The Lead Data Center Inventory Control Specialist owns the full lifecycle of hardware inventory at the data center site — procurement, receiving, stocking, tracking, budgeting, and returns. Operating as the site’s sole on-site inventory specialist at a lead level, this role works closely with operations, logistics, and management teams to keep physical and virtual stock in sync, keep customer commitments on track, and keep the site’s inventory processes running smoothly and securely.
Base pay range: $38.46 - $48.07 per hour (based on relevant experience).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Receive incoming stock
Unload goods from delivery trucks and sign shipment notes in accordance with procedures
Receive orders from the central warehouse
Monitor delivery orders and the quantities recorded
Monitor the quality of goods received
Select goods according to the initial order
Input receipts into the information system
Highlight issues, if necessary
Manage backorders
Manage inventory
Ensure that stock items are available as soon as possible to meet our customer service commitments
Manage stock-outs following notification from the technicians (retrofits, temporary archiving of customer disks, and returns if necessary)
Ensure consistency between the physical stock and the virtual stock
Carry out inventory checks
Complete procurement orders from the Supply Chain department based on recommendations from the information system
Report on purchase triggers to be used, on abnormal product consumption, and on non-compliance with processes (transport, packing and packaging, etc.)
Anticipate the end-of-life management of obsolete products and request the appropriate services to ensure service continuity (exchangeability of products)
Anticipate maintenance requirements and have a proactive approach
Follow and enforce the stock management procedures within the DC, train teams on best practice, and highlight any issues found
Manage waste in line with recycling procedures
Keep the warehouse in a good state of cleanliness
Ensure compliance with the stock and site access security conditions (access prohibited to external individuals/company individuals without authorization from their manager, locking doors and lobbies, etc.)
Manage shipments
Prepare orders and packaging of products before shipment
Record stock intake and removal on the IT system
Ensure the return of recyclable components (following retrofitting)
Dispatch customer orders via UPS (return customer disks)
Load and unload vehicles
Archive delivery notes, shipment notes, etc.
Carry out additional tasks according to the needs of the department
Upon request from management, perform occasional tasks according to the needs/urgency of the service
Actively participate in current or future projects
Procurement & Budget
Manage the site inventory and stock budget, tracking spending against targets
Submit and manage purchase orders based on recommendations and operational need
Monitor and report procurement issues, abnormal component usage and consumption
Coordinate with the Supply Chain department on order fulfillment and replenishment
Cross-Functional Coordination
Serve as the primary point of contact for inventory and parts requests across operations, supply chain, and management teams
Coordinate parts pulls, staging, and delivery for active projects
Escalate order delays and vendor issues on behalf of requesting teams/individuals
Train and guide other staff on inventory processes, system use, and best practices
Reporting & Systems
Prepare and present weekly inventory updates at the IT Operations meeting, including slide deck and verbal briefing
Maintain proficiency in SAP, Tableau, Jira, and other enterprise platforms as required
Report on inventory metrics, stock status, and operational trends to management
Ensure compliance with site access, security, and data handling procedures
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience as an inventory control clerk or a similar role
Knowledge of inventory management software
Ability to manage inventory budgets and procurement
Proficiency in enterprise inventory and operations systems (SAP, Tableau, Jira, or equivalent)
Strong knowledge of hardware or data servers
Experience presenting operational data and updates to management and other teams
Ability to react and adapt quickly to new challenges
Thoroughness and organizational skills
Proactive, with strong anticipation skills
Able to teach others and be diplomatic

Working Conditions This is an on-site role based at the data center, functioning as the sole on-site inventory specialist. Duties include unloading and loading delivery trucks, lifting and moving hardware and packaging, and working in the warehouse/stockroom area. Ability to operate a forklift is a plus. The role requires compliance with site access and security procedures at all times.
